Production Lead
About the role
The Die Cutting & Finishing Lead Person supports all issues related to die cutting and finishing area production. They provide direction on department activities to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate commitment to safety and comply with company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain work areas to ensure all employees work safely.
- Provide daily coaching and feedback to all department employees.
- Increase overall productivity to meet customer requirements.
- Collaborate with other leaders on manufacturing and quality decisions.
- Assign work and monitor production orders.
- Monitor schedules, rush orders, hot list, call-ins, etc.
- Coordinate quality response forms.
- Cover communication between 2nd shift Area Manager and 3rd Shift Supervisor.
- Coordinate quality concerns with quality personnel or Customer Service.
- Provide answers and make decisions related to production and quality.
- Schedule production and monitor orders to enhance productivity and quality.
- Participate in daily scheduling meetings with other lead people.
- Identify and implement process improvements and increased productivity opportunities.
- Enhance internal and external department communication.
- Attend monthly department meetings and other meetings as needed.
- Provide backup ECATS responsibilities and resolve issues with Payroll.
- Assist the Department Area Manager with weekly/daily manning requirements, overtime requirements, and quality complaints.
- Contribute to employee disciplinary issues and performance reviews.
- Work with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance.
- Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors.
Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must have computer skills in Microsoft Office and understanding of an ERP system.
Qualifications
This is a safety-sensitive position requiring constant alertness and safe behavior. Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed, rotate shifts, work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people, and interact effectively with a wide variety of roles.
Skills
Must have computer skills in Microsoft Office and understanding of an ERP system.
