Position Overview
The Laser Welder is responsible for performing precision laser welding on aircraft components and other manufactured parts while maintaining strict quality and safety standards. This position works closely with manufacturing and quality teams to produce reliable, high-quality products; primarily working with 4130 steel and stainless steel to produce aircraft parts including sub-assembled fuselages, landing gear, tail assemblies, fittings, and related components that meet FAA and company specifications.
Requirements
- Fabrication & Welding:
- Perform precision laser welding on aircraft components and manufactured parts.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Set up, operate, and maintain laser welding equipment.
- Inspect finished welds to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Perform minor equipment adjustments and routine maintenance.
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, machining, and quality departments to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing processes.
- Absorb and assist with other production duties as assigned.
- Successfully assemble smaller sub-assemblies including wing fittings, float fittings, and related components.
- Produce repeatable parts that conform to engineering and design requirements.
- Quality & Inspection:
- Perform final inspections of fabricated assemblies prior to release.
- Inspect and repair welds as necessary to meet conformity standards.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and workmanship with minimal rework required.
- Follow established manufacturing procedures and quality standards throughout production.
- Production & Team Support:
- Meet weekly production and welding goals.
- Work collaboratively within a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Perform general shop housekeeping and equipment maintenance.
- Work independently while remaining responsive to production priorities and direction.
- Support additional fabrication and production tasks as assigned by leadership.
Skills & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and fabrication prints.
- Experience operating common fabrication and welding tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to learn manufacturing processes and procedures quickly.
- Reliable, adaptable, and team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with 4130 steel, stainless steel, or titanium.
- Previous aviation, aerospace, motorsports, or precision manufacturing experience.
- Familiarity with aircraft structures or FAA-regulated manufacturing environments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills.
