About the role

This position is located in Omaha and reports to the Floor Supervisor. The role involves working on the harvest floor in a meat processing facility, handling live animals and preparing products for customers.

Responsibilities

• Unload and segregate live animals in a humane manner to prepare for the harvest floor.
• Stun animals humanely to enter the harvest floor.
• Remove hides using dehider knives and other powered equipment.
• Harvest blood on the harvest floor for customer preparation.
• Trim carcasses to remove contaminants.
• Harvest all offal products and prepare them for customers.
• Operate scales to ensure accurate payment to producers and from customers.
• Break down carcasses and save primals as specified by customers.
• Trim product to meet customer specifications.
• Box and bag trim and primals according to customer requirements.
• Operate lifts to move product into storage and prepare for shipment.
• Ship product as orders are received.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a meat processing plant or similar manufacturing setting preferred but not required.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures with frequent exposure to moving machinery, knives, hooks, hot water, and slippery floors.
