About the Role
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Floater must have knowledge of multiple positions and know how to operate various equipment. The individual will assist with changeovers, relieve team members for breaks, lunches, absenteeism, or vacation, and provide leadership in the absence of the Production Team Leader or Supervisor. This is a safety-sensitive position.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean work environment by following food and workplace safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Operate multi-function process control machinery (and ERP system) through control panels, computer terminals, or other control systems to mix, blend, cook, or otherwise process food products, and to bag, box, or otherwise package food products.
- Maintain production line operations by assisting line operators with process problems, making equipment adjustments, reporting production and quality data, and referring questions to the supervisor.
- Monitor product conformity and ensure compliance with company standards; perform adjustments to equipment if/when necessary.
- Assist with changeovers and relieve team members as needed (breaks, lunches, absent team members, vacation).
- Rotate and learn different areas of the production line/multiple lines.
- Provide on-the-job training to new employees and assist with team member cross-training.
- Actively participate in 6S and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Create and maintain POKA guides relative to production operations.
- Maintain positive, respectful, and open communication with team members.
- Promote and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, working within the team to make the workplace more efficient and safer.
- In the absence of the Production Team Leader or Supervisor, provide leadership to ensure all team tasks and duties are completed.
- Oversee the quality of work performed by Production Team Members.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous manufacturing and/or food production experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices in food production is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and consistently changing environment.
- Ability to learn multiple positions and work varying schedules.
- Ability to understand and follow a variety of guidelines and work procedures (including health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with peers and supervisors.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting through root cause problem solving.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Flexibility with work hours, including overtime and weekends when needed.
