Our Cerelia Whitehall plant may be new, but the history of Cerelia goes back to 1974. As the years have passed, the company has grown from a France-based production company to an international leader.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Flex across all 3 production shifts to cover for other supervisors. Home schedule will be Monday through Friday 12p-9p
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) of the production team’s performance including safety, efficiency, waste, downtime, labor hours, and ensure expectations are met or exceeded
  • Monitor the total production process including continual monitoring of product flow, equipment, process methodology, mechanical repair work orders, on-the-job training of employees, writing and developing standard operating procedures (SOP), product quality, product yields, and safety excellence
  • Maintain a 48-hour mindset for the production floor, ensuring the next production day is set for success
  • Understand equipment in the plant from staging, consuming, processing, and final packaging
  • Fully understand product and process specifications: identify, execute, and communicate all aspects
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process, setting processing variables, and observing control points, labor, and equipment
  • Continuously improve operations to maximize profit and minimize cost
  • Work effectively with the maintenance team to minimize production downtime and ensure preventative maintenance is performed on schedule
  • Investigate and resolve production deviations and issues
  • Assist in production or other duties as assigned when needed

Team Building & Supervision

  • Ensure plant personnel follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work in a safe, efficient, and effective manner while striving to achieve quality level production to exceed customers' needs
  • Lead production teams to achieve required safety, quality, productivity targets for production, sanitation, and logistics
  • Build a strong team by communicating performance expectations; monitoring and appraising performance; providing support, coaching, training, and enforcing standard policies and procedures
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and disciplining to direct reports
  • Lead team meetings and cross-functional workshops
  • Be involved in the hiring and training of new employees, refer employees for promotions
  • Identify training opportunities and needs within the production team and discuss needs with production manager and HR to develop training plan
  • Cover other shifts in the Production Supervisor’s absence

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure adherence to GMP compliance and safety standards and provide necessary training and communicate changes on each initiative
  • Supervise daily shift operations to ensure production standards, quality parameters, safety procedures, and department business plan goals are met
  • Ensure the plant meets all government, customer, and third-party audit requirements and implement corrective actions according to audit results
  • Isolate any product that will not meet established quality standards or may cause a food safety hazard; notify the quality assurance department and document appropriately
  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, quality foods that meet SQF, regulatory, company, and customer requirements

Health & Safety

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure machinery and equipment are well maintained and running safely according to specifications
  • Perform all work in accordance with company standards and established safety procedures
  • Follow company safety policies and practices, fostering a safe workplace and environment for ourselves and our co-workers

Requirements

  • B.S/B.A. in Business Administration or equivalent combination of education or minimum of 3-5 years’ supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of FDA and OSHA regulations
  • Experience evaluating work processes and systems for efficiencies and operational flow
  • Knowledge and implementation of lean manufacturing principles is preferred but not required
  • Knowledge and familiarity with automated manufacturing process/packaging technology, GMP, and industry standards
  • Preferred dough experience but not required

  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
