About the role
Manages all aspects of the manufacturing business, provides leadership, and acts as the customer point of contact for business challenges.
Responsibilities
- Manages and provides leadership for direct reports and business employees.
- Implements and/or assists in required training programs.
- Manages all controllable cost factors in forge and die shop manufacturing areas.
- Plans and organizes workload and staffing over all shifts, utilizing proper equipment selections and materials to meet or exceed customer requirements.
- Provides a safe and injury-free work environment for all employees.
- Co-chairs MRB sessions to disposition defective material and provide corrective action.
- Chairs weekly barrier meetings and ensures barriers are resolved in a timely manner.
- Manages daily operations using the SPD Operating System guidelines.
- Participates in all facets of the total quality system, including goal tracking, visual board audits and updates, budget development and review, people development, goal development, barrier identification and elimination, and goal/objective achievement.
- Manages and controls cost while ensuring products are shipped on time.
- Leads process improvement initiatives in areas of responsibility and ensures quality requirements are met.
- Effectively utilizes the Division's Strategic Architecture (e.g., TQM, SPD Operating System, Core Values).
- Exercises signature-level authority as defined by Division standards.
- Co-plans with staff and directs the professional development of direct and indirect reports to ensure excellent current and future job performance, career growth, and a motivated workforce.
- Directs and manages all departmental activities to meet the needs of internal and external customers and support company, division, and department goals.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical field.
- Five to ten years of manufacturing experience, specifically in areas such as machining, heat treat, or forging.
- Ability to resolve technical, financial, and operational challenges.
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in computer use and various software programs.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to: President
Directly supervises: Senior Supervisor, Supervisors of Forge, Die Shop Supervisor, and CMM Technician.
Indirectly oversees approximately 180 hourly bargaining unit employees.
