Summary
The Production Engineer II is responsible for the plan and design of manufacturing processes required to produce solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC). The primary purpose and focus of the Production Engineer II is to maximize efficiency in the manufacturing process, while working collaboratively.
Responsibilities
- Define manufacturing processes by creating work instructions, control plans, and PFMEA
- Maximizes manufacturing efficiencies by analyzing layout and operation of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and workforce utilization
- Analyzes and determines parts and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals
- Designs and tests product through the design, development, and validation process to integrate fluid-mechanical and electrical subsystems with the latest fuel cell technology
- Collaborate with research and development, product development engineers, and manufacturing staff to create high-tech products and patented devices
- Using the stage gate development process, track and manage resource allocation across multiple, simultaneous projects
- Use problem solving tools and techniques to urgently root cause issues
- Compile data and provide to Business Development team for periodic technical reports that keep our customers informed of project status and overall product development
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree – BSME or related
- 2-4 years of experience working in a hands-on production environment
- 2+ years managing technical product development projects and handling multiple projects
- Successful application of engineering and manufacturing processes
- Worked with CAD in a product development or manufacturing environment
- Worked with machined, metal formed and plastic components
- Previous experience managing project work and designs on a variety of simultaneously running projects
- Able to utilize MS Office and other engineering software programs
- Working understanding of Lean, DFMA, Six Sigma, and FMEA
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment
- Able to manage multiple projects and be comfortable reacting to changing priorities
- Respond to and implement changes suggested in projects to the product design
- Understand customer (internal and external) needs and anticipate requests
- Define what needs to be accomplished, consistently complete tasks
- Takes responsibility for resolving a problem, regardless of where it belongs
- Obtain quality results while utilizing an appropriate level of resources
- Make decisions based on incomplete data
- Methodical and expedient in selecting options with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency
