About the role

The Production Director is responsible for the overall sound of commercials and produced shows on our radio stations.

Responsibilities

• Voice, produce, and mix Production Orders from the Sales team, which run the gamut of commercials, promos, show intros and outros, and other on-air content as required by Sales and management – and making changes to content as needed.
• Ensure all programming is prepared for weekend airing in advance, produced, and sent to Sales and Clients for review before airings.
• Record and engineer live and pre-recorded programs in studio, and on occasion with remote access by hosts and guests via Zoom, Skype, or phone.
• Oversee studios and calendars of recording times, working with the Operations Manager and Chief Engineer to ensure studios operate satisfactorily and escalate any needed repairs.
• Ensure all live read copy is up to date and local hosts have the most recent copy.
• Work comfortably with talent – both professional and amateur – teaching radio fundamentals to first-time hosts and coaching them through recording sessions.
• Ensure evergreen programs are available for all local shows and hosts in case they can’t make their live or recorded studio time.
• Provide clear and concise instructions to Master Control Operators, Production Assistants, and other Production personnel on obtaining programs in the Production Director’s absence.
• Fill in for Studio Engineers as needed.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of mid to major market experience in radio.
• Advanced audio editing skills using Adobe Audition, ProTools, or similar software.
• Ability to work daily in our studios in downtown Manhattan.

Pay

Salary range: $50,000–$75,000.
