About the role

Assist the Production Manager in the day-to-day activities such as coordinating and expediting the flow of work and materials within or between departments of the branch according to production schedule.

  • Review and distribute production, work, and shipment schedules.
  • Confer with department supervisors and other co-workers to determine progress of work and completion dates.
  • Report on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.
  • Examine documents, materials, and products to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel and material requirements, and material priorities.
  • Confer with employees, vendors, and customers to coordinate production and shipping activities, and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
  • Requisition and maintain inventories of material and supplies necessary to meet production demands.
  • Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, sales, production, and engineering.
  • Schedule customers daily for installs, repairs, and field estimates.
  • Review daily work orders and/or tickets turned in by the technicians.
  • Ensure deliveries arrive at the correct time and are unloaded and inspected for damages and/or missing items.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by manager.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Products, including but not limited to Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • High School Diploma required; Associate Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of door, frame, and hardware applications preferred.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with ability to multi-task.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to stand on feet for several hours at a time and move between a counter work area and a desk.
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work in conditioned areas and unconditioned (warehouse) areas.

Work Environment

  • Subject to frequent heavy lifting.
  • May require driving to project sites.
  • May be exposed to variable weather conditions.
  • Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware.
