Purchase Routine Materials
Purchase routine raw materials, semi-finished goods, finished parts, supplies and/or equipment, ensuring that all quality, delivery and specification requirements are met at the lowest possible cost.
Create and Review Dies and Tooling
Create and review dies and tooling orders.
Create Job Packets
Create job packets for the production floor.
Inventory Management
- Be responsible for purchasing and accurately tracking stocks or widths inventory.
- Process approved purchase requisitions – maintain and update active orders.
- Gather quotes from various vendors/suppliers on requested parts, equipment and/or supplies.
- Aid in the measurement and reporting of cost increases, reductions and avoidances.
- Evaluate and propose alternative sources, materials, and processes aimed at improving standardization, cost, productivity, quality and safety.
- Interface with all value chain functions such as manufacturing, engineering, and customer service on material status, production planning, and scheduling issues.
- Notify the manager of any material shortages.
- Conduct cycle-counts to maintain accurate inventory.
Job Planning and Scheduling
- Build relationships with new and existing vendors to reduce lead times, ensure on-time delivery and initiate cost savings programs.
- Assist Production Manager in the measurement and reporting of cost increases, reductions and avoidances.
- Assist Production Manager in the evaluation and proposal of alternative sources, materials, and processes aimed at improving standardization, cost, productivity, quality and safety.
- Interface with all value chain functions such as manufacturing, engineering, and customer service on material status, production planning, and scheduling issues.
- Assist in job planning and scheduling label production work orders utilizing Syteline ERP.
- Analyze sales order releases with respect to material requirements.
- Notify the manager of any material shortages.
- Complete jobs in Syteline ERP, review the amount of material utilized, and verify inventory.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in continuous improvement projects that reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase overall customer satisfaction through the materials group.
Administrative Support
- Work with the accounting department to reconcile any irregularities in purchase orders and invoices.
- Perform additional duties and assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in a similar role working in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective interpersonal skills, along with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and related software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with ERP systems preferred.
- Self-motivated and has the ability to work in a team environment.
