About the Role
This is an entry-level position within the manufacturing area at Spartech’s Stamford facility. Production Associates perform weigh-up or packaging duties to ensure the highest quality acrylic sheets at the lowest possible cost, meeting customer specifications and delivery requirements.
Our products are used in aerospace, security (bullet-resistance), displays, acrylic furniture, laser protection, and more. They can be seen in airplanes, fighter jet canopies, helicopters, bank teller windows, tanning beds, and other applications.
Responsibilities
- Perform weigh-up or packaging duties in the production department.
- Assist operators with loading and unloading slitters and during changeovers.
- Inspect finished rolls for defects (e.g., angel hair, loose rolls, roll weave, or bad cuts) and vacuum if dust is visible.
- Read and understand shop orders; communicate with operators and shift leads.
- Clean equipment and the plant as needed.
- Stage rolls and packaging materials for production.
- Maintain accurate and timely inventory updates in the MIS system.
- Remove, weigh, and package material from slitters; move to designated warehouse areas.
- Record daily total downtime with reason codes.
- Operate forklifts, including battery changes and general maintenance.
- Work a full schedule, including overtime as needed.
- Perform SQC and quality testing; cross-check paperwork and material labeling.
- Cut cores/cardboard per work order specifications.
- Follow additional directions from operators as required.
