Production Associate (Cylinder Loader)
About the role
We are hiring a Production Associate (Cylinder Loader) in Billerica, MA. Shift Time: 2nd Shift (1pm-9:30pm), Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload high-pressure and liquid cylinders on/off trucks in compliance with federal, state, local regulations.
- Meet all safety standards in the loading and unloading of cylinder gases per Airgas procedures.
- Inspect cylinders prior to filling, ensuring government, Airgas, and distributor safety benchmarks are met.
- Maintain awareness of safety protocols for various gases; identify size and contents of cylinders by carefully reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color-coding of tanks.
- Manage a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment to support site operations.
- Load cylinders on/off vehicles using a hand truck or chain hoist, maintaining accurate records of the type and quantity of cylinders.
- Maintain accurate records of cylinders being securely loaded/unloaded on/off pallets, confirming they are safely strapped in.
- Examine returned cylinders for surface defects, dents, cracks, or burns; perform minor maintenance of equipment and detailed inspection of cylinders prior to filling.
- Move cylinders to designated work areas using appropriate, safe work methods or equipment.
- Identify and segregate out-of-test or defective cylinders to maintain high quality standards.
- Prepare cylinders for reuse by removing old labels and ensuring they are clean.
- Contribute to other team needs as assigned to ensure a supportive work environment.
Requirements
- A high school degree or GED is required.
- Prior experience utilizing SAP or similar ERP system is preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals is required.
- Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent is required.
- Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this position's responsibilities is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of related technical experience is required.
Qualifications

- Mechanical aptitude is required.
