Production Associate 3rd Shift

About the role
Base pay: $16.00 per hour, plus $0.75 per hour shift differential for 3rd shift. 3rd Shift: Sunday–Thursday, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Responsibilities
- Visually inspect extruded products for consistent appearance and length according to defined standards
- Ensure product consistency and standards, including proper counts, packing patterns, packing enclosures, carton construction, and labels
- Pack finished products into bundles
- Route, cut, store, and box products in accordance with B.O.M.’s
- Maintain required paperwork
- Conduct recurrent tests/inspections of products’ functional features
- Notify appropriate personnel (Production Associate 3s and 4s, Manufacturing Shift Supervisor) of product defects
- Assemble bundles for packaging
- Ensure proper packing patterns, product counts, and package enclosures
- Verify all parts and pieces are correctly placed in all box programs
- Square, band, heat seal, and label packed bundles
- Set up and operate Fabrication Department Equipment: Routers, CMM Gang saw, Tiger Saw, Heat tunnel, notchers, and Crimpers
- Discard unacceptable profiles in Scrap Rack
- Identify and assist with product jams in the production line
- Assist with line shutdowns and color/product die changes
- Perform line shutdown tasks
- Communicate with previous and following shifts about product quality, problems, and work-in-progress status
- Perform housekeeping duties as needed
- Complete line packaging-related paperwork accurately and legibly
- Identify product not routed or cut to spec per the line check sheet
- Repackage out-of-spec product in proper patterns, color, and count
- Punch time clock before and after shift
- Observe health and safety practices during start-ups and shutdowns
- Maintain supplies at the workstation
- Communicate with Material Handler(s) to move full bundles
- Assist with training temporaries and new hires in Production Associate 1 positions
- Read draft drawings, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and radius gages
- Float to relieve other Production Associate 1s for breaks
- Attend weekly shift meetings and monthly All Hands Forum, if required
- Actively participate in all plant safety programs
- Notify Supervisor if proper tools are not furnished
- Assist with production equipment maintenance
- Identify and assist associates in need of help
- Maintain work zones’ cleanliness and safety
- Work with Production Associate 2 to optimize workflow in the fabrication department
Requirements
- 6 months or more of Production/Manufacturing experience
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math skills
- Common sense, positive attitude, and excellent attendance
- Quality and safety conscious, team player
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continually, above shoulder height and below the waist
- Excellent manual dexterity and ability to concentrate for sustained periods
- Good communication skills and ability to interact with people
- Extensive standing, frequent bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting, and walking
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled facility
- Must wear hearing protection, safety glasses, and other personal protective equipment as applicable
- Immediately report unsafe working conditions
- Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements
