Production Area Manager

Responsibilities

• Supervise, organize, mentor and coach team members in performance of their duties while promoting the Vermeer culture.
• Establish and monitor individual and team goals aligned with organizational strategies and objectives.
• Ensure the team serves internal and external customers and meets defined expectations.
• Manage projects, production, costs, scheduling, shipping, receiving, and quality for the assigned area.
• Ensure on-time delivery of products within budget and meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
• Drive root cause problem solving to address vendor, supplier, and customer issues concerning quality and delivery.
• Lead the development and implementation of lean principles and continuous improvement projects to improve cost, quality, and safety.
• Ensure safety and accountability of team members; execute countermeasures to meet Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Scorecard requirements.
• Manage required documentation to meet internal and external regulations.
• Encourage team member development and engagement; create an environment for learning and growth.
• Own workforce planning, including staffing levels, cross-training strategy, and schedule optimization to meet customer demand.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one year of manufacturing experience or a minimum of five years’ experience in manufacturing.
• Continuous improvement experience preferred.
• Understanding of lean principles.
• Passion for leading others in alignment with Vermeer’s characteristics and behaviors.
• Demonstrated understanding of performance metrics including safety, quality, fulfillment, cost, and inventory.
• Ability to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of equipment and machinery operation.
• Bilingual fluency in Spanish preferred.
• Occasional travel is expected.
