About the role
This second-shift leadership position supervises a team responsible for safety, quality, fulfillment, cost, and inventory. You will lead process improvements, mentor team members, and ensure on-time delivery while fostering a culture aligned with Vermeer’s values.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, organize, mentor, and coach team members to perform their duties and uphold Vermeer’s culture.
- Establish and monitor individual and team goals aligned with organizational strategies and objectives.
- Ensure the team meets internal and external customer expectations.
- Manage projects, production, costs, scheduling, shipping, receiving, and quality for the assigned area.
- Drive on-time product delivery within budget and exceeding customer expectations.
- Lead root cause problem-solving for vendor, supplier, and customer quality and delivery issues.
- Develop and implement lean principles and continuous improvement projects to enhance cost, quality, and safety.
- Ensure team safety and accountability, meeting Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Scorecard requirements.
- Manage documentation to comply with internal and external regulations.
- Encourage team member development, engagement, and growth.
- Own workforce planning, including staffing, cross-training, and schedule optimization to meet demand.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one year of manufacturing experience or a minimum of five years of manufacturing experience.
- Continuous improvement experience preferred.
- Understanding of lean principles.
- Passion for leading others in alignment with Vermeer’s characteristics and behaviors.
- Demonstrated understanding of performance metrics (safety, quality, fulfillment, cost, and inventory).
- Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of equipment and machinery operation.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish preferred.
