Job Purpose
The Engine Product Technical Specialist serves as the technical authority and primary liaison between field operations, dealers, and internal product engineering teams for engine-related concerns. This role acts as the “voice of the customer,” ensuring rapid identification, containment, and resolution of engine performance, reliability, and quality issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical expert for engine systems, supporting dealers and internal teams with complex issue resolution.
- Provide second-level support for escalated engine concerns that cannot be resolved through standard channels.
- Conduct in-field investigations to diagnose engine performance and reliability issues; collect and analyze technical data.
- Lead root cause analysis and partner with engineering and product management teams to drive corrective actions.
- Identify emerging quality trends and proactively escalate systemic engine issues.
- Support development and validation of Product Improvement Programs (PIPs), service bulletins, and rework instructions.
- Collaborate with technical publications to enhance service manuals and documentation.
- Participate in service meetings and provide technical training and guidance to dealers and support teams.
- Manage failed component returns and support detailed failure analysis.
- Ensure timely communication of technical updates through established systems and channels.
- Escalate safety or compliance-related concerns to appropriate internal committees.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with diesel engine systems, preferably in off-highway, agricultural, construction, or heavy equipment applications.
- Strong working knowledge of: High-pressure common rail (HPCR) fuel systems, Turbocharging and aftercooling systems, Exhaust aftertreatment systems (e.g., Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)), Engine electronic control systems (ECU/ECM calibration and diagnostics)
- Proficiency in diesel diagnostic tools and software (e.g., electronic service tools, CAN-based systems, fault code analysis).
- Demonstrated experience in structured problem solving (8D, root cause analysis, fault tree analysis) within diesel engine environments.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret engine performance data, telematics, and field failure trends.
- Experience supporting field service teams, dealers, or customers with complex diesel engine issues.
- Ability to work independently in field environments and drive issues to resolution with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical reporting tools.
Pay Transparency
The annual salary for this role is USD $86,625.00 - $132,825.00 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
