Product Quality Engineer

Responsible for all aspects of product conformity for systems/components at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant. Reports directly to the PQE Lead and builds effective relationships with salaried, hourly, assembly plant, and corporate personnel to complete projects within their area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Validate product changes, provide technical expertise, and improve outgoing quality to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Respond to manufacturing quality issues and manage all product changes with unquestioned integrity and strength of conviction.
  • Support continuous quality improvement initiatives using advanced problem-solving methods and SPW kaizen methodology.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional manufacturing teams, facilitate consensus, and drive action from key stakeholders.
  • Manage external quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to achieve targets, drive improvements, corrective actions, and escalation.
  • Review warranty/Customer Quality Insight (CQI) claims daily, maintain issue stratification, and manage the Warranty Wall for assigned areas.
  • Lead improvement activities in vehicle quality by addressing nonconformity to product quality targets (SCA, VLO, BSR, and TDF).
  • Support Corporate Quality objectives/deliverables and communicate requirements to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Collaborate and lead internal and external resources to achieve project/program timing.
  • Lead teams to identify issues/risks associated with product designs, processes, and applications using FMEAs and other risk assessment tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field from an accredited university (other Engineering degrees considered with relevant experience).
  • 1+ years of relevant working experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications.
  • Ability to perform data analysis to identify top issues, summarize trends, and assess the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Effective presentation and public speaking skills for all organizational levels.
  • Experience with problem-solving tools.
  • Demonstrated coaching and teaching abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a high-intensity, multi-project environment.
  • Passion for spending time on the shop floor and understanding the build process from a 4M1D standpoint (man, method, machine, material, and design).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree.
  • Reactive Green Belt / Black Belt Certification.
  • Previous experience resolving complex issues, including root cause analysis and repairs.
  • Experience in Product Engineering, Vehicle Integration/Development at a supplier or Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturer.
  • Manufacturing and/or Quality experience within a vehicle/component assembly plant.
