About the Role

The Senior Product Owner supports the definition, delivery, and lifecycle management of CASPAR (Cost Allocation Schedule Performance Analytics & Reporting), a strategic platform within the client's Interconnection ecosystem. CASPAR serves as the system of record for interconnection cost allocation, financial tracking, schedule performance analytics, and reporting across the interconnection lifecycle. The platform enables improved transparency, automation, auditability, and regulatory compliance.

This position provides Product Owner leadership for a multi-year implementation initiative focused on modernizing and enhancing CASPAR through improved business processes, data governance, automation, reporting, and integration with key enterprise systems including Datamart, EcoSys, FIHUB, and related interconnection platforms. The role will primarily focus on the successful implementation and adoption of CASPAR while providing flexibility to support additional products within the client's broader Interconnection Management ecosystem.

The Senior Product Owner will partner closely with business sponsors, subject matter experts, architects, developers, data integration resources, testers, and vendor partners to deliver an approved product roadmap. This role requires a balance of business process expertise and technical product leadership, with approximately 60% focused on business process analysis and 40% on technical product implementation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of interconnection business processes, cost allocation methodologies, financial data, and regulatory requirements.
  • Own delivery of the approved CASPAR roadmap in partnership with business sponsors and Product Management.
  • Elicit, document, analyze, refine, and maintain business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and product documentation.
  • Build, groom, maintain, and manage the product backlog, ensuring traceability from business objectives through delivery.
  • Document business process workflows, business rules, financial calculations, data requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure product requirements accurately reflect business processes, compliance needs, operational objectives, financial calculations, and reporting requirements.
  • Facilitate stakeholder work sessions to gather requirements, resolve ambiguities, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, analysts, testers, business SMEs, and vendor partners to deliver product enhancements.
  • Support data integration initiatives by defining business requirements, validating mapping logic, reviewing transformation rules, and verifying integration outcomes.
  • Validate delivered functionality against approved requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Review and verify source-to-target mappings, data transformations, reconciliation results, reporting outputs, and business rule execution.
  • Support testing activities including system integration testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, and data validation efforts.
  • Partner with technical teams to ensure data integrity, governance, auditability, and operational readiness.
  • Identify dependencies, risks, assumptions, and implementation challenges and proactively communicate them to stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and release planning.
  • Support onboarding, training, change management, and adoption activities.
  • Communicate roadmap status, implementation progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the Interconnection product ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field, plus 5 years of related experience.
  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, High School/GED and 10 years of related experience.
  • Product ownership, product delivery leadership, or business systems implementation experience.
  • Requirements elicitation, documentation, refinement, and backlog management.
  • Business process analysis and workflow design.
  • Enterprise data integration initiatives.
  • Data validation, reconciliation, and data governance activities.
  • Verification of source-to-target mappings and integration outcomes.
  • Experience working with complex business rules, calculations, and decision logic.
  • Stakeholder facilitation and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Agile software delivery methodologies.
  • Experience supporting the development and implementation of custom software products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Finance, or related field.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, or equivalent Agile certification.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex business, technical, and financial concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs, metrics, and continuous improvement.
  • Financial systems and/or financial data management experience.
  • Financial reporting, analytics, and business intelligence experience.
  • Experience with cost allocation methodologies and financial calculations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, audit controls, and data governance practices.
  • Utility industry experience.
  • Experience supporting interconnection processes, transmission, generation, or related utility operations.
  • Familiarity with FERC and state-regulated business processes.
  • Experience supporting systems of record and multi-system enterprise integrations.
  • Experience working with platforms that integrate data from multiple enterprise applications.
  • Experience validating reporting, data transformations, and reconciliation processes.
  • Knowledge of enterprise reporting and analytics platforms.
  • Experience implementing large-scale business transformation or modernization initiatives.

Pay

$64.00 - $74.00/hr

Schedule

12-month contract with potential for extension. Hybrid work environment based on business needs. Occasional travel may be required for stakeholder meetings, workshops, training sessions, and implementation activities.

Working Conditions

Office environment. Employees must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned work location. Field Mobility Classification - Work may be performed in various field or office locations as needed.
