About the role

This is a technical role at the intersection of hardware engineering, software development, and military operations. You will triage and root-cause complex electromechanical failures, perform log review, telemetry analysis, and diagnostics using Linux and command line tools to isolate failures across hardware, software, and networking. You will build deep technical expertise across the Altius air vehicle and its launcher configurations, tracing failures that surface at the integration boundary between the two. You will partner with software and hardware engineering teams to abstract individual field failures into systemic reliability improvements and permanent design changes. You will continuously assess and improve the quality of the fleet's observability and health telemetry alongside engineering, test, and mission teams. You will collect, organize, and analyze system failure data to define trends, drive proactive sustainment processes, and inform resource allocation decisions. You will deliver responsive, detail-oriented technical support to our global users, managing customer-facing incidents and communicating mitigation and resolution clearly. You will bridge the gap between deeply technical engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders, maintaining current awareness of product specifications and fielded configurations. You will contribute to the runbooks, triage procedures, and technical guidance that let our sustainment operations scale as the Altius fleet grows worldwide. You will travel as needed to support customer operations and test events.

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-On Technical Experience: 2+ years of professional experience supporting, troubleshooting, or maintaining complex technical systems (aerospace, robotics, automotive, defense, or electromechanical systems).
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field, OR equivalent hands-on military, aerospace, or industrial technical experience.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Strong aptitude for problem solving in unstructured situations at the interface of hardware, software, and networking, with a proven ability to drive vague technical problems to clarity and resolution.
  • Self-Starter: Demonstrated ability to find and resolve issues on your own, with an innate drive to be self-sufficient across the depth and breadth of a technical system.
  • Excellence and Rigor: You execute the 100th rep of a process with the same focus and care as the first five reps.
  • Communication: Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills, and confidence navigating ambiguity and crafting new ways of doing things.
  • Clearence & Location: Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security clearance, and based in (or willing to relocate to) the Atlanta, GA area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting and/or deploying loitering munitions, tactical missiles, or unmanned aerial systems (UAS/Drones) as a DoD contractor or military end-user.
  • Familiarity with conventional ordnance systems, combat arms, or military aviation operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux command-line interfaces (CLI) and unix-like shells such as Bash or Zsh.
  • Familiarity with modern observability and ticketing tools (such as Grafana, PagerDuty, Jira, or Git).
  • Experience leveraging data analytics (such as SQL or Palantir Foundry) to conduct trend analysis and drive business decisions.
  • Experience supporting incident-driven workflows requiring analysis, triage, prioritization, and reporting, ideally in on-call or limited risk tolerance environments.
  • 1+ year of customer or technical support experience with a focus on final-tier customer concern support.
  • Prior military, DoD civilian, or government agency experience.
  • A defense and/or STEM background.
