Accountable for the strategic direction, financial performance, and long-term growth of Smith Detection Inc.’s Americas Aviation business.
Responsibilities
- Own full P&L accountability for Americas Aviation business, delivering annual revenue, profit, and share sufficiency through disciplined financial and portfolio management.
- Lead development of a comprehensive, annual strategic plan for presentation and alignment to Americas leadership team, identifying pillars for growth and gain buy-in from cross-functional and global partners.
- Drive portfolio strategy and lifecycle management, including innovation pipeline development, portfolio optimization, pricing strategy, and disciplined resource allocation to maximize return on investment.
- Lead end-to-end commercialization, from business case development and customer validation to go-to-market execution, ensuring on-time, on-budget launches with strong in-market performance.
- Analyze competitive activity, customer/end-user insights, and financial performance to identify risks and opportunities; translate insights into clear, actionable growth initiatives.
- Partner closely with sales, technology, and global marketing to develop customer-ready sell stories and innovation launch plans.
- Collaborate with demand planning and supply chain to deliver accurate volume forecasts.
- Partner with Global Marketing Communications on brand standards and positioning to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
- Lead and influence cross-functional teams, providing clear direction, resolving trade-offs, and ensuring accountability across complex initiatives.
- Closely monitor and analyze sales volume, market share, competition, industry sector news, and regulatory updates to provide actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- University degree in business, science, or engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of product management experience, preferably in Aviation or other technical industries, with experience in products sold into Federal agencies.
- Demonstrated skills in P&L management, product life cycle management, business planning, and go-to-market strategies.
- Sound understanding of concepts, principles, and practices in marketing and product development, and a basic understanding of other areas including sales, finance, and supply chain.
- Understanding of industry sector and competitive environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and developed diplomacy skills required to guide, influence, and convince others; strong relationships with sales, customers, and agencies.
- Financial savvy with ability to manage costs and resource allocations across business segments.
- This position requires Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and vetting via the TSA. Applicant must successfully pass a federal background investigation.

Pay
The total compensation for this position ranges from $158,208 - $237,312/yr, determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, and alignment with internal team and market data.
