About the role
Waymo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Manager to join our Product Management Team in a hybrid capacity. The role involves leading efforts to evaluate and enhance the safety and performance of the Waymo Driver through advanced simulation and real-world data analysis. You will work closely with cross-functional teams comprising data scientists, engineers, and machine learning practitioners to develop and execute evaluation plans, especially as we expand into new environments and international markets. Responsibilities
- Understand and analyze user data through simulation and real-road testing to inform safety and performance improvements
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and ML practitioners to evaluate driving behavior and system safety metrics
- Design and execute evaluation plans for new environments, including international markets, to ensure readiness and safety
- Develop and integrate simulation features such as synthetic data generation, sensor simulation, and simulated agents to enhance learning and evaluation processes
- Work closely with onboard developers to assess and support the launch of new features in simulation environments, increasing confidence and efficiency
- Contribute to the development of evaluation and experimentation platforms, ensuring user-friendly interfaces for data scientists and engineers
- Lead initiatives to improve simulation tools and evaluation frameworks, aligning with overall product and safety goals
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or products utilizing machine learning or AI
- Proven experience in analytical or AI/ML roles, with a strong understanding of data science collaboration
- Experience working with distributed systems, data infrastructure, and cloud computing platforms
- Ability to develop long-term product visions and translate them into actionable plans with cross-organizational alignment
- Educational background in technical or engineering fields; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent practical experience
