About the role

A position is available for a Staff Product Manager, Data Governance to lead the definition, roadmap, and delivery of the data governance and access control platform that protects, organizes, and unlocks data products across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for the data governance platform, including data cataloging, fine-grained access control, data quality, lineage, and sensitive data classification.
  • Lead governance tooling on the platform, owning the configuration, evolution, and adoption strategy for each.
  • Partner with InfoSec, legal, privacy, and compliance stakeholders to translate policy and regulatory requirements into enforceable controls.
  • Collaborate with data and analytics engineers to embed governance into the data lifecycle.
  • Define and operationalize the data stewardship model, including ownership, business glossary, classification, and quality service level agreements across business units.
  • Use AI-assisted tools to prototype governance workflows, auto-generate documentation, and accelerate policy authoring and review.
  • Use data and discovery to inform decisions, validate assumptions, and measure the value of governance investments.
  • Conduct stakeholder demos, roadmap reviews, and backlog grooming in alignment with agile ceremonies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with technical teams, governance and security stakeholders, and business data owners.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in product management or product ownership, with a track record of stakeholder management, roadmap planning, and internal collaboration.
  • Proven success leading complex, cross-functional data initiatives, preferably tied to governance, security, or platform outcomes.
  • Background in data governance and security tooling, with hands-on familiarity with data catalogs, data access governance, data quality and observability, and sensitive data discovery tools.
  • Understanding of data engineering and analytics workflows, including ingestion, modeling, transformation (dbt), warehousing (Snowflake), and visualization.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to enterprise data, such as SOX, CCPA/GDPR, content security, and contractual data handling obligations.
  • Comfortable using AI tools to accelerate discovery, prototyping, and day-to-day product work.
  • Proficiency with SQL to independently query, manipulate, and analyze data.
  • Experience with BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and familiarity with scripting or statistical tools (e.g., Python, R).
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, and dbt, and their native governance capabilities.
  • Exposure to AI/ML governance, including model registries, model cards, training data lineage, and emerging agent governance practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in product management or product ownership, with a track record of stakeholder management, roadmap planning, and internal collaboration.

Skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications and vice versa.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Scrum.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 annually.

Schedule

This role is a contract position with a location in Glendale, California, requiring 3-4 days per week onsite.
