About the role

As the Product Manager - Concrete Products, you are responsible for managing product matters related to the concrete product line throughout the product life cycle—from strategic planning to tactical activities—and aligning the strategies for the product with those of the organization. You will synthesize customer cues, industry, and market needs to create products that profitably grow the segment. The role includes preparing an annual product line plan based on market research, detailed product information, price points, sales forecasts, and special features of new and existing products. You will coordinate with selling branches to recommend pricing and initial channels of distribution, and lead the development of new products by managing interdepartmental teams (Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Quality, Sourcing, and Production) to develop, launch, and drive sales.

Responsibilities

  • General responsibility for managing a portfolio of products (20% of time)
  • Work with customers, sales, research and development, and engineering to identify and develop needed products and product applications (10% of time)
  • Develop new product definition, financial analysis of the opportunity, and development timeline (10% of time)
  • Work with marketing to develop appropriate marketing material to support the product portfolio throughout the product life cycle to maximize product revenue (10% of time)
  • Manage the product life cycle including product rationalization, profitability, and future requirements based on market changes (10% of time)
  • Lead product training of Simpson personnel and assist in training activities at branches for customers as needed (10% of time)
  • Work with sales and regional engineering personnel to advance industry knowledge and relationships (10% of time)
  • Regularly work in the field to look for product and application opportunities from internal and external sources (10% of time)
  • Strategically work with industry-related organizations within assigned product line purview to maximize impact of Simpson product revenue (10% of time)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience and/or training in product management
  • Minimum 2 years experience and in-depth knowledge related to products for concrete and masonry
  • Strong knowledge of the building code, and construction methods and techniques

  • Writing: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Speaking: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Solid understanding of business financials

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 25% of the time.

Pay

$84,400 - $135,000 / year

Schedule

This is a full-time, exempt position located in Gallatin, TN; other main branches may be considered. Relocation may be available for this position.
