Product Manager – Casualty, US Middle Market Workers’ Compensation
About the role
The Product Manager Workers’ Compensation is a newly created position within AXA XL Americas, serving the needs of mid-sized clients in the Commercial Lines P&C market. This leader will play a key role as an integral member of a dynamic Product Development growth team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and own the product development and implementation of Workers’ Compensation related product solutions to establish AXA XL’s competitiveness and differentiated offerings in the Middle Market space;
- Provide input into appetite and optimal portfolio;
- Manage multiple related projects in a coordinated manner to achieve strategic objectives and ensure alignment with unit strategy;
- Ensure efficient and effective resource management, while balancing stakeholder engagement and risk management for US Middle Market initiatives;
- Focus on delivering value and benefits from the program outcomes, while aiming to complete projects on time and within budget;
- Provide thought leadership and expertise on policy construction, market standard offerings, and program structures with a primary focus on Workers’ Compensation;
- Focus on product details such as rates, rules, forms, & compliance;
- Collaborate effectively with aligned Actuarial support and help drive key strategies around rate filings, pricing strategies, desired portfolio mix and line of business profit improvement strategies;
- Establish strong working relationships with cross-functional groups including Claims, Compliance, Regulatory, Legal and other functions to engage and collaborate on issues related to the Casualty Lines of business;
- Work on behalf of Middle Market team and underwriters as liaison on compliance topics, review all regulatory and compliance components of products the business intends to write, and advise on any business strategies that require input from regulatory or compliance;
- Drive underwriting strategy and risk selection through understanding of the competitive marketplace, preferred risk characteristics, lessons from loss trends, and competitor offerings;
- Represent AXA XL as a subject matter expert and thought leader at industry conferences enabling the organization to see around corners and stay ahead of industry trends and emerging risks.
Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
- Eight or more years of Commercial Property & Casualty insurance experience in the field of legal compliance, regulatory relations, product development, underwriting or underwriting support with a focus on the Casualty Lines of business and the Middle Market segment;
- Experience with a Workers’ Compensation Independent Bureau or NCCI will also be considered;
- Familiarity with the deployment or management of Dividend Plans, Retrospective Rating, and/or Safety Groups;
- Comprehension of how state jurisdiction impacts Workers’ Compensation regulatory structure;
- Experience with California and/or the WCIRB of California are a plus;
- Comprehension of Federal coverages and their impact on policy structure;
- Minimum education requires a College Degree with relevant experience.

Pay
The U.S. base salary range for this position is USD 107,600-209,100. Actual pay will be determined based upon the individual's skills, experience and location.
