Product Manager
About the role
This position drives profitable growth, market share, consumer awareness, and brand equity for Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Division, focusing on the Aerospace and OE Interior product lines. The Product Manager leads strategic product development, positioning, and lifecycle management, partnering with cross-functional teams to align product offerings with business needs, including manufacturing capability, gross margins, and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Product Lifecycle Management
- Develop new products in collaboration with Segment and cross-functional teams to meet Company objectives.
- Commercialize new products through an established stage-gate process.
- Monitor competitive product assortments, strategies, pricing, strengths, weaknesses, and industry trends.
- Research and determine end-user needs for assigned product lines, incorporating input from Segment leaders, field sales, and customer interactions.
- Manage the lifecycle of assigned products and develop obsolescence plans.
- Analyze and lead SKU rationalization for assigned products.
- Execute plans and projects on time and within budget.
- Financial Accountability
- Prepare financial budgets for assigned products through costing analysis with Finance leads.
- Monitor costs associated with the product/brand.
- Deliver sales and profit targets within the managed product category.
- Communication and Training
- Develop product-specific training in partnership with the training team.
- Provide product training for customers and consumers.
- Assist in the development of sales tools, including training manuals, catalogs, price lists, and brochures.
- Strategy and Development
- Develop and deliver long-term brand plans and strategies.
- Align product offerings to simplify and meet market demands while minimizing SKU count.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing; MBA.
- Knowledge & Experience
- Required: 3–5 years of prior experience in Marketing, Sales, Business, and/or Product Development.
- Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred: Prior aerospace or OEM industry experience.
- Preferred: Foundational understanding of coatings technology.
- Preferred: Understanding of the marketing mix (Product, Place, Pricing, Promotion, and Placement).
- Preferred: Strategic thinking and analytical skills.
- Technical/Skill Requirements
- Required: Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite.
- Preferred: Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau.
Travel required: 20%.
