About the role
This highly visible leadership role collaborates with multiple functions and stakeholders across all levels of the organization to drive market share and revenue growth, operating profit and product line margin improvement, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Provide Marketing leadership to cross-functional divisional teams in pursuit of business objectives.
- Develop key business strategies based on market and competitive research, internal core competencies, and corporate strategies.
- Create and execute a strategic marketing agenda through promotions, literature, samples, advertising, and merchandising.
- Identify product/market opportunities and guide product line additions or enhancements through the development process.
- Act as a change agent and key leader on cross-functional corporate teams.
- Develop product line vision and long-term strategy, including a three-year plan aligning marketing (4P’s) with operational needs (capacity, productivity, profitability, and quality).
- Direct price strategy and positioning for the product line, considering internal logic and competitive positioning.
- Create a sustainable competitive advantage through compelling messaging, content, and marketing claims.
- Evaluate new product ideas and enhancements, prioritizing resources based on consumer insights.
- Monitor competitive intelligence and building codes/regulations, ensuring product compliance.
- Lead new product development teams from ideation to commercialization, launching enhancements or new products annually.
- Implement channel-specific strategies (direct sales, pro-dealer, big-box) and optimize pricing/positioning with sales partners.
- Partner with logistics to evaluate and improve product service levels.
- Assess financial performance of the product category and drive improvements in capacity utilization, profitability, and productivity.
- Analyze competitive pricing and develop strategies to maintain sales, share, and profits.
- Support Sales through customer education, webinars, major meetings, and other key interfaces.
- Track, analyze, and report product profit position, initiating programs to improve results in conjunction with manufacturing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Finance, Marketing, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent; MBA preferred.
- 8–10 years of business experience, with 5–7 years in sales, marketing, or product management (or a strong technical/engineering role).
- Excellent project management, organization, and communication skills.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of financial management/cost-based accounting.
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Access, project management tools, and PowerPlay/Impromptu.
- Consumer-focused mindset with deep competitive knowledge.
