Product Manager
Inkitt · San Francisco, CA · 1 mo ago
On-siteMarketingFull-time
About the role
Inkitt is building the Disney of the 21st century, using AI and predictive algorithms to discover unknown stories and turn them into blockbuster hits. The company runs four consumer products—Galatea (serialized fiction), CandyJar (micro‑drama platform), Ironblood (AI‑native streaming for action and adventure), and the Inkitt writing/discovery platform. Product managers are assigned to the product where the largest metric gap exists, and may move as priorities shift.
Responsibilities
- Own an app or area end‑to‑end — the roadmap, backlog, revenue, and retention.
- Generate ideas by researching competitors, the market, and users daily; maintain a ranked “Top 3” list of high‑impact ideas.
- Build an impact case before building a feature: size the opportunity, show the math, and defend the number.
- Pitch ideas to the CEO, take rejection, sharpen the proposal, and resubmit.
- Drive approved work through specification, design, engineering, QA, and launch.
- Design and run A/B tests, ramp them responsibly, and honestly interpret results—even when they are negative.
- Publish learnings, wins, and losses to the whole company.
- Deliver the impact you predicted.
Qualifications
- 4–10 years of professional experience (title “product manager” not required).
- At least one role in a business where money changes hands directly (e.g., subscriptions, in‑app purchases, payments, pricing, marketplaces, live operations, lifecycle marketing).
- Ability to produce your own numbers: size opportunities, build models, and write the SQL or spreadsheet underneath them.
- Evidence of moving toward product work rather than title—lateral or downward moves, or experience across multiple functions.
- Initiated something on your own (side project, club, process, business, or team).
- Shipped work with measurable outcomes, clearly stating what moved and by how much.
- Strong consumer‑product instinct and real UX judgment.
- Based in San Francisco and able to work onsite five days a week.
- Nice‑to‑have experience with free‑to‑play games, serialized fiction, short‑form video, audio, virtual currency, offer design, live operations, mobile, or a founder/first‑employee stint.
- Generates ideas rather than waiting for them.
- Brings solutions instead of problems.
- Data‑driven and performs the analysis themselves.
- Quick to take action.
- Accepts direct feedback well and gives it constructively.
- Comfortable being measured against their own forecasts.
- Happy to be moved to wherever the biggest problem is.
- Seeks exponential career growth.
- Enjoys building a generational AI × entertainment company.
