About the role

We're looking for a product manager who can own our roadmap end to end and turn a messy, high-context problem space — advanced manufacturing, defense supply chains, and AI-assisted workflows — into a clear sequence of things we ship. You'll sit between customers, engineering, and leadership, and your job is to make sure we're building the right things in the right order. This is a hands-on PM role at an early-stage startup. There is no existing PM function to inherit; you'll define it. You should be equally comfortable running a customer discovery call, writing a crisp spec, and cutting scope with engineers on a Friday afternoon.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap: gather inputs from customers, sales, engineering, and leadership, and turn them into a prioritized, believable plan.
  • Run discovery directly with customers and prospects — manufacturers, defense primes, and government end users — and translate what you learn into product decisions.
  • Write specs and requirements that engineers can build from without a dozen follow-up questions, and stay close to execution through launch.
  • Partner with engineering and design on trade-offs, scope, and sequencing — protect velocity and be willing to cut when needed.
  • Define what "good" looks like for each release: success metrics, launch criteria, and how we know it worked after it ships.
  • Help shape positioning and go-to-market in partnership with leadership — pricing, packaging, and how we talk about what we build.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship (required). This role works with sensitive government Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and is subject to government contract requirements.
  • In San Francisco, in person — 3–4 days/week at our co-working space (Friday remote optional).
  • 3+ years of product management experience shipping technical B2B or enterprise software, ideally at an early-stage startup.
  • Strong customer discovery instincts — you talk to users often and let evidence, not opinions, drive the roadmap.
  • Clear written communication — specs, PRDs, and updates that leave no ambiguity about what we're building and why.
  • Comfort with technical depth — you can hold your own in an engineering conversation without needing to write the code yourself.
  • Startup-pace mindset — comfortable prioritizing product velocity and making calls with incomplete information.

Qualifications

  • Domain fit (strongly preferred): Experience in manufacturing, hardware, supply chain, CAD/PLM, or defense/government software.
  • Exposure to AI or ML products: You understand what changes about a roadmap when the underlying system is probabilistic.
  • Nice to have: Prior experience as founding or first PM at a startup.
  • Background in engineering, industrial design, or operations before moving into product.
  • Familiarity with selling into or building for the U.S. government or defense industrial base.

Pay

Competitive salary plus equity, benchmarked against well-funded startups.
