About the role

Aosom LLC, a leading provider of high-quality home, lifestyle, pet, fitness, and toy products, is seeking a Product Manager in Huntington Beach, CA. Founded in 2009, Aosom operates through innovative e-commerce solutions and distributes its products through top marketplaces like Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, and Wayfair.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a profitable collection of products that shoppers love.
  • Advise on the selection of catalog items, product design, product quality, and product regulatory compliance.
  • Deliver careful, informed research, follow-up action, and outreach to aid the health of the catalog.
  • Interface with Marketing and Supply Chain departments to attain sales goals.
  • Drive the execution of all product lifecycle processes for products, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, and product launch.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and team members across the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Manage tasks to achieve daily, weekly, monthly and annual company goals through collaboration and direction from the Product Manager.
  • Closely align decisions, behavior and strategy to the Mission, Vision and Core Values of the company.
  • Ensure optimal customer experience by collecting and analyzing info on shopper preference, consumer demand, and price.
  • Validate popular and relevant products by meticulously analyzing market information and researching customer reviews.
  • Prepare and present presentations to educate, inform, and identify all product requirements, specifications, and timelines.
  • Determine product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production and sales costs, finalizing cost structure and margin.
  • Define development goals and manage key milestones by taking ownership of your project through creative problem solving and articulation of risks, to ensure the project meets all requirements and remains on track with timelines.
  • Collaborate with Aosom overseas office to ensure product development projects are executed within pre-defined scope and timelines.
  • Foster positive working relationships with overseas vendors through effective communications across various platforms of communication.
  • Analyze market data to draft creative brief plans and provide clear direction for our creative team.
  • Manage calendar to ensure all critical milestones are met.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups such as Category Management, Sourcing, Vendor Management, Quality Control, Creative, and other departments to ensure successful communication and product launches.
  • Lead product meetings to coordinate actions and mitigate project risks.
  • Understand requirements for compliance, regulatory, and other standards regarding your product lines.
  • Be attuned to the eCommerce community daily to understand product trends, new competitor launches, and define key competitors.
  • Collaborate daily with your manager to gather input on new product development ideas, ensuring optimal success in new product launches.
  • Create and respond to analyses of product performance impacts, activities, costs, forecast, failures, liabilities, and any such relevant data in timely fashion with relevant managers and action takers.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and technologies.
  • Plan and integrate into department/team’s operations to stay relevant, competitive, and improve operational efficiencies.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Development, Business, Merchandising, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2–5+ years of experience in product development, preferably within ecommerce, consumer goods
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • PREFERRED: Experience working with overseas manufacturers and suppliers, familiarity with packaging, materials, and production processes, knowledge of consumer product compliance (CPSC, FDA, Prop 65, as applicable), experience with PLM systems and Microsoft Excel

Work Environment & Travel

  • Full-time, exempt position based in Southern California
  • On-site schedule depending on business needs
  • Occasional domestic or international travel may be required

Physical Demands & Working Environment

  • Work in the office is generally sedentary in nature, but may require walking and standing occasionally.
  • Must be able to use the telephone and sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
  • The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
  • Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
  • Work is generally performed within an office environment with standard office equipment available.
  • While checking on product quality in the warehouse the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • While working in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers.
