The Role: Product Expert PLM and ERP
Altana's mission is to fix globalization. This role involves helping Altana build a future where PLM, ERP, and trade compliance systems seamlessly integrate, ensuring that product data flows automatically, accurately, and with full audit trail.
Responsibilities
- Reimagine the Product Data Lifecycle
- Own the product vision for Altana's Product Passports serving as the connective tissue between PLM, ERP, and trade compliance systems.
- Define how the as-designed, as-sourced, and as-built views of a bill of materials are reconciled and maintained over time.
- Design workflows to propagate product changes continuously across commercial documents, classifications, and regulatory filings.
- Close the Gap Between Product and Trade
- Own the product vision for structured product data flow from SKU definitions through commercial invoices, advance ship notices, and customs entries.
- Automate manual, error-prone processes and prioritize integrations and automations that unlock compliance value.
- Turn Systems Expertise into Product Requirements
- Translate firsthand experience with PLM implementations, ERP configurations, and broken handoffs into concrete product features.
- Define how Altana captures product data rich enough for trade compliance, flexible enough for manufacturing variance, and structured enough for machine readability.
- Serve as the internal authority on product data lifecycle across the supply chain.
- Build Collaboratively with AI
- Use AI tools to prototype workflows, generate explanations, and test ideas with customers and engineers.
- Champion a culture of "show, don't tell" through demos, mockups, and AI-assisted visualizations.
- Partner Across the Ecosystem
- Engage directly with product engineers, trade compliance teams, procurement leaders, and ERP/PLM administrators.
- Work with government-facing product teams to ensure the enterprise product data model complements CBP's enforcement and facilitation tools.
- Collaborate with engineering on API design and data schemas that connect PLM platforms, ERP systems, logistics networks, and Altana's Product Passport layer seamlessly.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with PLM and/or ERP systems in a manufacturing, sourcing, or trade compliance context.
- Deep familiarity with bill of materials structures, item master synchronization, BOM transfer, ECO/ECN workflows, and failure modes at each handoff.
- Working knowledge of how product data flows into commercial documents and trade compliance data requirements.
- Experience with data modeling, integration architecture, or enterprise system implementation.
- Prior product management, business analysis, or enterprise technology strategy experience.
- Tech-enabled and AI-curious mindset.
