About the role

The Product Engineer II will manage the integration of seat components into a seat and vehicle system during all phases of development. This role requires utilizing knowledge of engineering theory, material science, and manufacturing processes to design products that meet plant capabilities and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer technical interface.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to coordinate CAD, CAE, tooling, and design for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Address problems using FEA, DFM, DFMEA, design analysis, calculations, design reviews, etc.
  • Guide a team of supporting product engineers.
  • Identify and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience working with automotive OEMs, preferably in automotive seating.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and launching seating programs from concept to launch.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to apply DFSS and Shanin techniques to root cause issues.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and manage awareness of deadlines.
  • Proficient in design analysis tasks, development of seat complete DVP&R, leading interface with Stellantis customer engineering team, Lear plants, and Lear internal engineering teams, reporting to the Manager of Engineering-JIT.
  • Experience with GD&T, DFSS, DFMEA, and DFA/DFM.
  • Knowledge of FMVSS and ECE specifications.
  • Ability to perform local, regional, and international travel as needed.
