Roles & Responsibilities
- Ability to perform all safety critical functions.
- The product must be built to the designated specs approved and cannot be deviated or substituted.
- The control, performance and tolerance are essential for the part to function so that it does not jeopardize public safety or its compliance with government regulations.
- Must be able to recognize and call the critical characteristic symbols as listed on the blueprints.
- Create and release preproduction CAD models and drawings.
- Provide support and information to Sales, Purchasing, Production, Quality, Drafting and Customer Service on the products you design, quote and release into production.
- Provide Product Field Support, Design Engineering, Product Engineering and Program Management support to external customers.
- Team Leader and Project Manager responsibilities including writing and updating of project management schedules.
- Manages Part Number Assignment.
- SUBMIT PRODUCT COSTING REQUEST TO PRODUCT COST ANALYST.
- COORDINATE PRODUCTION RELEASE ACTIVITIES WITH PRODUCT RELEASE ENGINEERING.
- ENGINEERING CHANGES.
- REVIEW CUSTOMER DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS, ENSURING COMPANY COMPLIANCE WITH THOSE SPECIFICATIONS AND PREPARE DISCREPANCY REPORTS.
- WRITE AND PRESENT THE FOLLOWING ENGINEERING ANALYSIS REPORTS TO CUSTOMERS: Load/Stress analysis, System Safety Analysis (MTBF, Maintainability, FMECA), FMECA (Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), DRBFM (Design Review Based on Failure Mode), DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report), QPP, QTP, QTR (Qualification Program Plan, Qualification Test Procedure, Qualification Test Report), Weight Analysis.
- PERFORMS BASIC TESTING AND SUPPORTS CUSTOMER TRIALS, INCLUDING ON-SITE PROTOTYPE & P Pilot Builds.
- PDR AND CDR PRESENTATION TO CUSTOMERS (PRELIMINARY DESIGN REVIEW, CRITICAL DESIGN REVIEW).
- PROBLEM SOLVING AND FAILURE ANALYSIS REPORTS.
- ATTEND TRADE SHOWS AND PARTICIPATES IN INDUSTRY EVENTS.
- FOLLOW ALL 6S & SAFETY GUIDELINES: Safety, Sort, Straighten, Scrub, Standardize, Sustain.
Qualifications
- 2-5 years' experience in a commercial equipment / vehicle environment.
- B.S.M.E., B.S.E.E., B.S.E.T. (Engineering Technology) or equivalent industry related experience.
- The ability to work in an environment that is dynamic and demanding, applying a broad product range to a diverse customer base.
- This requires a positive mindset and solution based thinking focused on results whilst delivering superior customer service and value.
- The work intake will constantly change. Flexibility in thinking is therefore essential to optimize the use of the skills and abilities to achieve maximum results.
- The Engineer must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be capable of interactions at all levels and of particular importance - externally at our customers from initial concept to production release.
- The communication of problems and constraints in achieving objectives to functions at all levels is important.
- Confidence and resilience are attributes that are essential to succeed when working with often difficult and demanding customers when the going gets tough.
Physical Demands
