Full-time position based in Boston, MA.
About the role
Execute the functions of the Product Development Lab as directed by Laboratory Operations Managers. Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient laboratory environment while operating all equipment—analytical, blending, processing, and safety—within the lab spaces.
Responsibilities
- Blend and process prototypes within the Boston Beer portfolio of products.
- Coordinate shipping and receiving of samples for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain laboratory upkeep, including cleaning, equipment calibration, and daily start-up/shut-down functions.
- Perform inventory auditing and maintenance.
- Operate all lab equipment to create sample prototypes.
- Complete Product Development Work Requests in collaboration with fellow Technicians and Technologists as directed by Site Leaders and Lab Manager.
- Communicate capacity availability and constraints to Site Leaders to ensure timely completion of assignments.
- Execute administrative tasks for work requests, including updating analysis documents, uploading blend sheets, and completing third-party laboratory analysis forms.
- Support and complete shipping of prototype samples using FedEx, UPS, and other shipping portals.
- Collaborate with brewing teams to operate equipment for blending and processing during scale-up events.
- Use MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for documentation and reporting.
- Work with Boston Beer’s internal formula tracking system to execute blends.
- Complete lab-related projects outside the standard Work Request process as assigned by management.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of life science laboratory experience (college experience acceptable).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work in a flexible and changing work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional or institutional experience in a life sciences laboratory.
- Associate’s Degree in a Life Science field.
Pay
Salary range: $41,000 – $85,000, dependent on experience, skillset, and location. This position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
