Product Development Technologist

We are seeking candidates in the St. Agatha, Maine area with 5 years of experience assisting with manufacturing product development and testing, preferably within chemical or food-related industries. Paper experience and/or education/co-op experience is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Supports the product development engineer, sales, marketing, and technical services in introducing new products and maintaining existing products.
• Interact with current customers regarding any product-related issues.
• Be active on the mill floor when running trials; investigate claims from customers.
• Network continuously with new and current clients to identify potential new product opportunities and chemistries.
• Support improvements in existing grades and serve as a resource to Product Development Engineers to help develop new products.
• Conduct paper analysis reports on competitive paper samples.
• Assist operations in the testing of new paper grades, including trials at the mill and at the customer's plant.
• Assist with quality testing based on any field complaints of current grade offerings.
• Maintain awareness of the Food Safety Policy, GMP's, HACCP principles, and Food Safety Standard.
• Continuously support and promote safe work practices throughout the mill by being present at safety activities.
• Conduct monthly safety meetings and perform safety audits.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a chemistry-related subject (required).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in product development, testing, or related roles.
• Experience within chemical or food-related industries is preferred.
• Paper manufacturing experience and/or education/co-op experience is highly desired.

Pay

$70,000 - $100,000 per year, plus a 5% bonus and relocation assistance.
