About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Designer to lead the development of a world-class, agent-first design system. This role will focus on improving how design and engineering work together, starting with core product surfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Improve design and engineering workflows, ensuring seamless integration of design principles and technical implementation.
  • Set the quality bar for components and patterns, and ensure they are consistently applied across all platforms (iOS, Android, web).
  • Create and document the semantic layer that guides designers and engineers in making informed decisions.
  • Drive adoption of the design system across the design organization, establishing clear guidelines and workflows.
  • Establish agent-first systems and workflows, ensuring that humans and AI agents can make consistent, high-quality decisions.
  • Build and evolve the components needed for real-world product work, prioritizing high-leverage gaps and testing them in actual product environments.
  • Set the operating cadence with design and engineering, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes coherence and adoption.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in product design, with a strong background in design systems.
  • Experience contributing to components, patterns, tokens, and governance within a design system.
  • A systems thinker with a deep understanding of how to integrate design and engineering effectively.
  • Taste and communication skills to defend design choices and communicate effectively across teams.
  • Autonomy and a passion for driving projects from concept to completion.
  • Comfort with building or changing components in code (Swift/SwiftUI, Kotlin/Jetpack Compose, or web).
  • Experience in language learning, education, or another domain where cross-cultural nuances are important.

Qualifications

  • Fluency with AI in design and development processes.
  • An understanding of accessibility and scalability as the design system expands to different platforms.

Benefits

  • Join a dynamic, global team with offices in San Francisco, Seoul, Tokyo, and Ljubljana.
  • Work on a product that has the potential to significantly impact people's lives by improving language learning experiences.
  • Enjoy a supportive, inclusive culture that values growth and mutual respect.
