About the role
Oversee and supervise R&D team members involved in researching and developing new product designs, improving existing designs, or establishing best practices. Provide technical guidance, leadership, and support to meet project cost, schedule, and performance goals while effectively communicating progress to department and senior leadership.
Responsibilities
- Manage product design activities and schedules, including product development, continuous improvement, and research projects using project management best practices.
- Lead research, development, verification, and validation of new product designs.
- Provide leadership to design teams to meet project scope and performance requirements.
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
- Supervise product design team members, including conducting performance reviews and partnering with the Manager on performance or disciplinary actions.
- Mentor team members to enhance their design knowledge, skills, and abilities, and oversee their training and development.
- Communicate product design schedules, status, and risks to peers, department leadership, and senior leadership.
- Guide and influence cross-functional collaboration with operations, materials, marketing, sales, support, and project managers to achieve project goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.S.) or equivalent required; Master’s degree (M.S.) or advanced degree preferred.
- 4+ years of engineering design and development experience with a proven track record on complex product development and continuous improvement projects.
- Experience in design and/or manufacturing processes.
- Working knowledge of 2D and 3D modeling software (Inventor preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing team members, project management, and business or operational systems.
