Responsibilities
- Lead greenfield initiatives end-to-end — research, scoping, definition, prototyping, implementation, and iteration — working directly with engineering to solve complex technical problems.
- Improve existing products across the entire platform (WorkOS Dashboard, Admin Portal, AuthKit, and more), with a focus on usability, accessibility, performance, and consistency.
- Dogfood our own products and fix paper cuts along the way, shipping improvements directly to production.
- Engage directly with customers to get feedback, uncover friction, and transform findings into scalable, reusable patterns and flows.
- Contribute to our design system in Figma and code (WorkDS and Radix), creating, adapting, and deprecating patterns to keep the platform feeling like one product.
- Experiment with AI tools and emerging workflows to accelerate exploration and prototyping. When you find something that works, share it with the team.
- Collaborate across product design, brand design, engineering, solutions engineering, and go-to-market to define, shape, and ship products. We pull teammates in early, share work in progress, and default to working in public.
Qualifications
- 7+ years designing platforms and/or complex products with information-dense interfaces.
- Experience with developer tools, enterprise software, or technical B2B products is preferred.
- Demonstrated systems thinking: you know when to create a new pattern, adapt an existing one to different contexts, recognize when a pattern is needed, and know when to kill one.
- You account for real-world complexity — edge cases, error and empty states, accessibility, and technical constraints — without letting process slow you down.
- You ship, learn, and iterate. You can articulate why you made a design decision, not just what you made.
- You think through alternatives, weigh tradeoffs, and consider how your choices affect the entire product.
- Experience running user research and translating feedback into insights that shape product direction — including knowing what to prioritize and where design will have the most impact.
- Proficiency with Figma and a curiosity for what comes next – you should be excited to explore new tools and workflows and share what you learn with the team.
- Front-end code familiarity, you'll contribute directly to our design system and ship improvements to production, incorporating AI-assisted development into your daily workflow.
- You spot design gaps across the product and fix them without waiting to be asked.
- You default to showing work early, sharing prototypes in the open, and pulling in others to get to the right solution faster.
