About the role

The Product Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that all products distributed by the company meet applicable regulatory, safety, and industry compliance requirements across OEM HVAC, plumbing, and appliance parts and equipment. This role leads compliance strategy, documentation, and risk management efforts, working cross-functionally with sourcing, supplier quality, legal, and operations teams. The position ensures that products are properly certified, documented, and maintained in accordance with evolving regulations while minimizing compliance risk and supporting business continuity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage product compliance programs to ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and industry regulations
  • Maintain deep knowledge of regulatory requirements impacting HVAC, plumbing, and appliance products (e.g., safety, environmental, and energy efficiency standards)
  • Establish and manage processes for product certification, approvals, and ongoing compliance verification
  • Ensure all required compliance documentation (e.g., certifications, declarations, test reports) is complete, accurate, and up to date
  • Partner with suppliers and Supplier Quality to ensure products meet regulatory and compliance requirements prior to approval and distribution
  • Assess and mitigate compliance risks associated with new products, suppliers, and changing regulations
  • Lead product compliance reviews during new product introductions and sourcing changes
  • Manage product labeling, traceability, and documentation to ensure regulatory alignment
  • Monitor regulatory changes and communicate impacts to internal stakeholders, ensuring timely implementation of required updates
  • Support audits and inspections related to product compliance, including regulatory agency and customer audits
  • Collaborate with Legal, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to address compliance issues, recalls, or field actions if required
  • Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and training programs for internal teams
  • Maintain systems and databases for tracking product compliance status across a high-SKU portfolio
  • Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams on compliance-related questions and requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement in compliance processes, documentation, and risk management practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in product compliance, regulatory affairs, or quality within manufacturing or distribution environments (HVAC, plumbing, appliance, or related industries preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of applicable regulatory standards (e.g., UL, CSA, EPA, DOE, RoHS, REACH, Proposition 65, or similar)
  • Experience managing product certifications, technical documentation, and compliance records
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements to business processes and product portfolios
  • Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance across the supply chain
  • Strong risk assessment and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience supporting audits, inspections, and regulatory inquiries
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance
  • Proficiency with compliance tracking systems, ERP platforms, and data management tools
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-SKU distribution environment
  • Professional certifications in compliance or regulatory affairs are a plus

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This position may require over 40 hours per week and includes regular physical activity such as:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data analysis, virtual communication
  • Minimal lifting (typically up to 10-15 pounds, such as a laptop, documents, or office supplies)
  • May require occasional travel (if applicable), which involves walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods
