Product Certification Field Technician / Electrical Field Inspector Job Description This role combines product certification field work with electrical inspection to ensure that manufacturers’ products, processes, and quality systems comply with nationally recognized safety and quality standards. The technician plans and conducts surveillance inspections, prepares and documents site visits, and supports a portfolio of electrical and electronic manufacturing clients. The position offers a highly flexible schedule, is largely remote, and involves working from home when not traveling to customer sites within a defined territory. Responsibilities Plan and conduct surveillance inspections in accordance with established scheduling requirements and client needs.Prepare for site visits remotely by reviewing documentation, planning inspection activities, and organizing required tools and resources.Document manufacturers’ production and quality processes, including required production tests, test methods, equipment used, and calibration practices.Inspect listed products, sub-assemblies, and components for compliance with certification documents and applicable standards.Review label inventory and label control processes to ensure proper use and traceability of certification marks.Review non-compliances issued during previous inspections, document any unresolved issues, and verify that corrective actions are implemented.Select product samples as directed for further testing or evaluation in accordance with certification requirements.Document all compliance and non-compliance findings during inspections in a clear, thorough, and timely manner.Advise clients on appropriate corrective actions and resolutions for identified non-compliances and follow up as needed.Complete and submit a Follow-up Service Inspection Report for each client inspected, ensuring accuracy and completeness.Communicate inspection results, technical information, and follow-up requirements between facility representatives and internal company personnel.Maintain expenses within established guidelines and accurately track mileage and other reimbursable costs.Create and manage a personal inspection schedule to support 25–30 clients per quarter, balancing on-site visits and remote work.Use quality and inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and blueprints to verify dimensions, construction details, and product conformity.Apply knowledge of the National Electric Code and relevant product safety standards when evaluating products and installations.Use smart technology (such as tablets, video conferencing, and collaboration tools) to document inspections, communicate with clients, and submit reports.Travel as business needs dictate, including local daily travel and occasional overnight stays within the assigned territory.Troubleshoot issues encountered during inspections and collaborate with clients to resolve technical or compliance-related questions.Support continuous improvement of quality systems by providing feedback on recurring issues and trends observed in the field. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, GA. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
