Product Certification Field Technician / Electrical Field Inspector Job Description This role combines product certification field inspections with electrical field inspection work, supporting approximately 25–30 manufacturing and electrical/electronic clients within a defined territory. The technician plans and conducts surveillance inspections, documents production and quality processes, and verifies compliance with nationally recognized safety standards. The position is largely remote, with significant time spent working from home preparing for visits, documenting findings, and planning inspection activities, while also traveling locally to client sites within about a 90-mile radius. Responsibilities Plan and conduct surveillance inspections for electrical and electronic products in line with established scheduling requirements.Prepare thoroughly for each client visit by reviewing certification documents, inspection requirements, and prior findings while working remotely.Document manufacturers’ production and quality processes, including required production tests, methods, and equipment used.Verify calibration and proper use of equipment involved in testing certified products, sub-assemblies, and components.Review label inventory and control processes to ensure correct and compliant use of certification marks.Review non-compliances issued as a result of previous inspections, document any unresolved issues, and follow up as needed.Select product samples for evaluation as directed by certification and inspection procedures.Document all compliance and non-compliance conditions observed during inspections in a clear and thorough manner.Advise clients on appropriate actions and resolutions to address non-compliance issues and improve their quality systems.Complete and submit a Follow-up Service Inspection Report for each client inspected, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.Communicate effectively between facility representatives and internal company personnel to relay inspection findings and requirements.Maintain and track expenses in accordance with established guidelines and policies.Use measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers, and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams as part of inspection activities.Apply knowledge of electrical codes, product certification requirements, and quality systems management during inspections.Troubleshoot issues related to product inspections, quality control, and compliance auditing in manufacturing environments.Create and manage a personal weekly schedule to cover assigned clients within the required quarterly timeframe.Travel to client sites within the assigned territory, including occasional overnight stays or longer drives as business needs dictate.Use smart technology and digital tools (such as tablets, video conferencing platforms, and inspection software) to document and report inspection activities.Support ongoing quality assurance and product certification programs for a diverse range of electrical and electronic products. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boxborough, MA. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
