Producer, Scripted Podcasts
About the role
Sinclair, Inc. is seeking a Producer to help lead the development and production of highly researched weekly and limited-run documentary podcasts, while supporting the growth of our broader scripted audio projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day production operations for a weekly scripted true crime podcast, as well development and ideation for ongoing and limited-run documentary series.
- Research cases, source materials, court records, timelines, archival content, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare hosts and producers with clear and comprehensive research packets, interview materials, timelines, and briefing documents.
- Develop story pitches, episode concepts, narrative structures, and editorial angles.
- Conduct interviews with sources, experts, contributors, and relevant stakeholders.
- Write interview questions, scripts (full narration and conversational), outlines, and other editorial materials.
- Collaborate with hosts, senior leadership, editors, and associate producers to maintain a consistent editorial voice and storytelling approach.
- Manage production calendars, workflows, schedules, deadlines, and deliverables across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Oversee the workstream of associate producers, editors, and collaborate with social editorial teams.
- Manage all guest outreach and booking, coordinate recording sessions, and provide production support during remote or in-person recordings.
- Review edits and provide creative feedback on story structure, pacing, clarity, accuracy, and narrative flow.
- Identify opportunities to develop stories into larger investigations, limited-run documentary series, or multi-platform projects.
- Work closely with video, social, and marketing teams to develop companion content for YouTube and social platforms.
- Track audience feedback, consumption trends, and performance metrics to inform future editorial decisions.
- Uphold journalistic standards by conducting fact checking and collaborating with legal to ensure accuracy.
- Support the development of new scripted audio concepts, franchises, and documentary initiatives across the portfolio.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience producing podcasts, non-fiction documentaries, investigative journalism, public radio, narrative media, or related content.
- Demonstrated experience producing highly researched, story-driven content from development through publication.
- Strong editorial judgment and a proven ability to identify compelling stories, characters, and narrative arcs from a bank of materials.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to work independently without direct oversight, and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience researching complex topics and synthesizing large amounts of information into clear, compelling editorial materials.
- Strong writing skills with experience creating scripts, outlines, interview guides, research briefs, and production documents.
- Experience preparing and conducting interviews, working directly with sources, contributors, and on-air talent.
- Strong talent coaching acumen, ability to work directly with on-air talent (hosts) on all aspects of interviewing, writing, and narration, providing constructive feedback.
- Understanding of narrative storytelling techniques including pacing, scene-building, tension, character development, and episodic structure.
- Comfortable handling remote recording workflows, including audio + video hardware and software, file organization, plus basic troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with fact-checking processes and maintaining editorial accuracy.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across editorial, production, legal, marketing, and leadership teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and editorial quality.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, or holidays as projects call for.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field preferred.
- Proven success in developing and executing multi-platform scripted content.
- Experience in managing and coordinating with external partners and vendors.
- Knowledge of industry-standard audio and video editing software.
- Experience with podcast distribution platforms and analytics tools.

Benefits
The base salary compensation range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
