About the role

TEGNA Inc. (NYSE: TGNA) is a media company that provides trusted local news and services. WBIR-TV, a TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Knoxville, is seeking an innovative Producer to shape its daily newscasts.

Responsibilities

• Use natural curiosity to pitch compelling stories.
• Show off creativity and storytelling skills.
• Craft stories of various lengths for different platforms targeting specific audiences.
• Meet daily deadlines.
• Create engaging experiences using live pictures, graphics, compelling video, and emotional sound.
• Booth continuous coverage on live streams for breaking news and community events.
• Consistently try new things after discussing with supervisors.
• Ensure impactful and emotional conversations represent the community's needs.
• Use data analytics to shape the content of your show.
• Challenge traditional methods of production.
• Ensure all communities and viewpoints have a voice in your show.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in journalism, communications, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 0-1 years of news content experience.
• Top-notch communication skills.
• Solid journalistic judgment and a news philosophy emphasizing accuracy, fairness, and unique local content, along with community engagement.
• Understanding of professional journalism tenets.
• Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.
• Strong social media skills, including an active presence on preferred platforms.
• Organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Ability to handle live, breaking news situations and changing events calmly.
• ENPS and Edius system experience preferred.
