Producer
Responsibilities
- Pitch urgent, community-centered stories and build rundowns that reflect WCNC’s standards for accuracy, fairness, and impact.
- Execute continuous live coverage during breaking news, severe weather, and major community events.
- Produce across platforms, writing for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social with platform-specific intent.
- Use data and audience insights to refine content and improve engagement.
- Collaborate closely with newsroom leadership, anchors, digital teams, and production staff to maintain editorial consistency and technical excellence.
- Innovate in storytelling and show design, bringing new energy to both streaming and linear formats.
- Uphold inclusive storytelling by elevating diverse voices and perspectives in the Charlotte community.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of producing experience (or equivalent newsroom experience with strong show ownership).
- Strong editorial judgment and the ability to make confident decisions in high-pressure, live environments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple elements of a show under tight deadlines.
- Clear communicator who can lead a team through breaking news calmly and decisively.
- Comfortable with evolving production systems and new technology; experience with vMix, Edius, ENPS, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Have a winning mentality, a growth mindset and a team-first attitude would be a perfect fit.
