About the Role
This position manages the produce department, ensuring profitability, productivity, and smooth operations while adhering to company guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Achieve desired gross profit and productivity levels.
- Project sales, product movement, and labor needs.
- Order product according to established guidelines.
- Receive and unload truck deliveries using available equipment.
- Establish daily work assignments and priorities for produce department personnel.
- Handle personnel matters (interviewing, hiring, training, evaluations, discipline, discharge) following company guidelines.
- Complete required forms, records, reports, and verify receipts.
- Prepare weekly work schedules.
- Stock, straighten, and rotate merchandise, ensuring proper pricing and labeling.
- Maintain appropriate temperatures in coolers and cases.
- Perform basic housekeeping duties (mopping, sweeping, floor scrubbing/buffing).
- Operate tools and equipment safely, including lifting items up to 50 pounds (occasionally over 50 pounds).
- Maintain a neat and clean work area.
- Perform duties with acceptable speed and accuracy.
Requirements
- Ability to work in temperature extremes (e.g., produce cooler at 32°F).
- Standing and/or walking at a rapid pace for extended periods.
- Follow dress code and safety policies/procedures.
- Follow written and oral instructions.
- Work well with others.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Eyesight corrected to 20/20 and hearing corrected to normal range.
- Full range of motion in shoulders, arms, hands, legs, and feet.
