PRODUCE MANAGER

About the Role

This position oversees all aspects of the produce department, ensuring profitability, productivity, and adherence to company guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Achieve desired gross profit and productivity levels.
• Project sales, product movement, and labor needs.
• Order, receive, and unload product according to established guidelines.
• Establish daily work assignments and priorities for produce department personnel.
• Handle personnel matters including interviewing, hiring, training, performance evaluation, discipline, and discharge.
• Complete required forms, records, reports, and verify receipts.
• Prepare weekly work schedules.
• Stock, straighten, and rotate merchandise, ensuring proper pricing and labeling.
• Maintain appropriate temperatures in coolers and cases.
• Perform basic housekeeping duties using available equipment.
• Operate tools and equipment safely, including lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds (occasionally over 50 pounds).
• Maintain a neat and clean work area.
• Perform all essential job functions with acceptable speed and accuracy.

Requirements

• Ability to work in temperature extremes (e.g., produce cooler at 32 degrees).
• Ability to stand and/or walk at a rapid pace for extended periods.
• Follow dress code, safety policies, and written/oral instructions.
• Work well with others and communicate effectively in English (speaking, writing, and legible printing).
• Eyesight corrected to 20/20 and hearing corrected to normal range.
• Full range of motion in shoulders, arms, hands, legs, and feet.
