About the role

The Produce Inspector II ensures that all incoming produce deliveries and existing inventories meet established quality specifications. This position involves making decisions to accept or reject produce based on processes consistent with PACA laws, driving customer satisfaction and minimizing returns.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure produce quality from suppliers meets US Foods' specifications
  • Perform daily inspections of incoming and existing produce deliveries and inventory
  • Make decisions to reject or accept produce based on PACA laws
  • Identify and address food safety concerns with warehouse management
  • Maintain records of inspections and collaborate with replenishment lead on produce decisions
  • Communicate daily with warehouse manager and replenishment lead on all issues related to fresh produce
  • Verify purchase order quantities and inspect quality for all inbound perishable loads
  • Inspect all inbound trucks for signs of pests and rodents before unloading
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs for receiving, storage, and shipping of fresh produce
  • Document temperatures of all inbound loads and report any violations to warehouse manager and replenishment lead
  • Check for proper produce inventory rotation and perform daily quality inspections
  • Complete daily dump and damage reports and give to warehouse supervisor or inventory control
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years experience in produce or other perishable receiving and inspection
  • Working knowledge of USDA Specs, Grades and Standards
  • Working knowledge of PACA laws
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant applications/hardware
  • Completion of US Foods Produce Inspector Course within 60 days of hire
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and sit/stand for long periods
  • Team-player willing to learn and adapt

Schedule

Early Morning Shift: Sunday - Thursday, 4:30 am - 1 pm

Compensation

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law (for example: state or local minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $24 - $37.
