About the role

To process and stock quality merchandise on shelves and displays in a careful, clean, neat, and expedient manner. Ensure a variety of product is fresh and appealingly displayed for customers while maintaining great customer service.

Responsibilities

• Greet, assist, and thank customers in a prompt, courteous, and friendly manner.
• Achieve high associate morale by working in a style that is Respectful, Supportive, and Totally Team Oriented (RSTO).
• Be knowledgeable about produce merchandise, including taste, preparation, use, and price differences between varieties (e.g., types of apples, potatoes).
• Offer product suggestions to customers.
• Stock product and displays, ensuring proper grading, rotating, crisping, trimming, wrapping, watering, and sanitation practices in accordance with company policy and product code dates (first in, first out).
• Fill and build displays; ensure product is priced accurately.
• Assist in checking and verifying produce department receiving when required.
• Receive, unload, and put away daily loads from delivery; store product in designated areas to protect quality.
• Observe all store rules, company policies, and shift operating hours as assigned by the produce manager.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
• Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and observe company dress code.
• Practice the “Cleaner’s Creed” and proper sanitation procedures.
• Process merchandise according to production guidelines and handle damaged or spoiled products per company policy.
• Assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
• Keep back room, cooler, freezer, fans, drains, and display cases organized and clean; monitor correct temperature and report refrigeration failures immediately.
• Keep work area swept clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards; report hazards immediately.
• Exercise safe practices when lifting or moving product and cleaning department equipment and tools.
• Occasionally assist the front end with bagging during busy times.
• Restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and maintain low supply costs.
• Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, or property defacement.
• Complete onboarding/e-learnings and checklist within 30 days of hire.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Ability to work at multiple store locations as needed.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English, with the ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work a schedule based on the business needs of the store location.
• Authorized to work within the U.S.
• Commit to the “Golden Rule” and work with other associates to build a strong produce team.

• Occasionally (1-33%): Sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, climbing up to 8 feet, and crouching.
• Frequently (34-66%): Carrying and lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing and pulling up to 250 lbs, bending, and reaching at waist or overhead.
• Continuously (67-100%): Standing and walking on tile or concrete floor, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, seeing, smelling, and hearing.

Safety Risk Factors

• Occasionally (1-33%): Loud noise, slippery or crowded floor surface, hazardous equipment (mechanical moving parts), contact with skin irritants, toxic exposure (see material safety data sheet), nuisance dust, fumes, sprays, and hazardous cleaning solutions.

Machines, Tools, and Equipment Utilized

• Wrapper, scale, pineapple core machine, pallet jack, pressure washer, crate opener, pricing gun.
• Must be 18 years of age to use: knives, case cutter, power jack, trash compactor.

Working Conditions

Working environment is inside and within cold temperatures. Continuous movement of the entire body is required.

Pay

The hiring range for this position is $15.00 - $17.90 per hour. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to education, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
