About the role

Sets up and maintains the condition of the department according to company standards. Consistently provides friendly, courteous customer service to internal and external customers. Ensures product quality and selection. Performs other related work. Generally works 6–8 hour shifts between 4:00 am and 11:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes, engages, serves, and thanks customers.
• Maintains an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer.
• Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness and interactive engagement, providing fast, friendly service, addressing and resolving customer concerns, including immediate replacement of bad product, expediting returns or refunds, helping locate items, and willingly taking customers to items.
• Performs receiving duties:
  • Verifies orders against invoices.
  • Reports shortages and claims to ensure proper billing.
  • Breaks down loads and dates product.
  • Cuts cases; stacks, prices, and marks merchandise.
  • Maintains produce storage area.
• Ensures proper merchandising for freshness and quality by:
  • Properly handling product to minimize damage and spoilage.
  • Building produce displays.
  • Rotating stock.
  • Discarding outdated or spoiled product.
  • Ensuring proper pricing and signing of products.
  • Using related equipment such as box cutters, cardboard and trash compactors, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
• Maintains cleanliness and eye-appeal of work area, storage area, and selling floor.
• Ensures a safe and secure work environment.
• Performs duties with honesty and integrity.
• Performs other duties as assigned or needed.

Requirements

• Perform basic math (add, subtract, divide, and multiply) and compute weights and measures.
• Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Conduct visual inspection of product, displays, and read written material.
• Communicate in writing to others.
• Reach, lift, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to 50 lbs. frequently.
• Push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
• Stand for long periods, walk and move rapidly, bend, twist, and turn frequently.
• Perform safe and quick movements and operate related equipment with manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
• Work with hands exposed to ice, moisture, fruits, and vegetables.
• Learn proper handling, preparation, seasonality, perishability, product safety, sanitation procedures, and department policies.
• Wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required.
• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.
• Food Handlers Certification (per state laws).

Machines and Equipment Operated

• Knives, wrappers, scales, compactors, garbage disposals, hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, and ladders.
• For minors hired, hours may differ as well as machines and equipment operated.

Pay

USD $17.38 – USD $21.94 per hour.
