Procurement Supervisor
This position plays a vital leadership role within the BMP Administrative Unit, overseeing all procurement, travel, and inventory functions that support four research-intensive academic departments and affiliated research centers. The role supervises a team of procurement and travel professionals, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures while maintaining a high standard of customer service to faculty, staff, and research personnel. The Procurement Supervisor serves as the primary subject matter expert for complex purchasing activities, including high-value equipment orders, custom lab supplies, and contract agreements. In addition to overseeing daily operations, the role provides training, performance feedback, and procedural guidance to staff, supports fiscal year-end reconciliation, and maintains inventory records for over 800 tagged assets. This position is critical to the continuity and efficiency of financial and operational support.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of procurement and travel professionals, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for complex purchasing activities, including high-value equipment orders, custom lab supplies, and contract agreements.
- Provide training, performance feedback, and procedural guidance to staff.
- Support fiscal year-end reconciliation and maintain inventory records for over 800 tagged assets.
- Oversee daily operations to ensure a high standard of customer service to faculty, staff, and research personnel.
- Direct subordinates to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
- Monitor daily operations of the procurement and travel unit or sub-unit.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- 4 - 7 years of related experience.
- Previous supervisory/managerial experience.
- Full knowledge of the purchasing function.
- Supervisory skills required to lead a purchasing group ensuring adherence to purchasing practices and guidelines.
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills in interacting with both internal and external resources.
- Analytical skills necessary to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of purchasing options.
- Knowledge of procurement policies, organizational departments and operations, and Federal Acquisition Regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and complete assignments on time.
Pay
The full salary range for the Procurement Supervisor is $78,200.00 - $141,400.00 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is $78,200.00 - $93,275.00 annually. Salary offers are based on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
