POSITION OVERVIEW

NBME has an exciting opportunity to learn and grow as a Procurement Specialist I. Working closely with senior specialists, this individual will play a vital role in supporting the sourcing and purchasing of goods, maintaining electronic files, and managing the contract database. Reporting directly to the Director of Procurement, the ideal candidate brings excellent communication, interpersonal, and troubleshooting skills. We are currently prioritizing applicants within a 50-mile radius from our Philadelphia office. At NBME, we specialize in the creation of assessments and learning tools for physicians and health professionals. Founded in 1915, NBME develops and manages the United States Medical Licensing Examination® with the Federation of State Medical Boards. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of assessment products for every stage of the medical school journey and provide assessment services to various health profession organizations. We are dedicated to advancing innovative assessment approaches through research, collaboration and contributions to the medical education and assessment communities. In 2024, we expanded our assessment capabilities to include simulation through the acquisition of MedVR Education.

Responsibilities

  • Review purchase requisitions for clarity, completeness, and proper coding.
  • Aid in uploading fully executed contracts into CMIS database with relevant contract information and arrange for timely reminders to be sent from CMIS to contract owners that note upcoming expirations and/or automatic renewals for their respective contracts.
  • Maintain electronic filing system for all purchase orders and related documents/correspondence to ensure efficient retrieval as necessary/required.
  • Collaborate and document processes to broaden procurement knowledge through cross-team mentoring.
  • Aid in the review and reconciliation of credit card statements.
  • Aid in procurement-related ERP system issues, including system testing.

Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with the willingness to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the procurement functions for the organization.
  • A working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, Teams, etc. is a must.
  • This role requires a high level of confidentiality, organization, and discretion and document management/record-keeping.
  • All functions are handled efficiently and accurately; assuring timeliness and follow-up of all assigned tasks required for the effective operation of the team.
  • Ability to handle purchase and contract-related information in a confidential manner.
  • Actively seeks to broaden purchasing knowledge through cross-team mentoring, attendance at related seminars, conferences and/or webinars.
  • Experience 2 years or less

Education

A high school graduate or equivalent required; an associate degree or bachelor's degree in business administration or related field not required, but desirable.

Benefits

We are offering for this position is at $56,642 - $71,000/year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
